Hi, I'm Kim Megahee and welcome to my writer's website. As a bit of an introduction, I've lived in Atlanta for most of my adult life. I've done a bunch of things over the years. Today, I'm a writer, a musician, and a computer consultant. My background includes playing in rock bands, selling women's shoes, teaching high school, selling computer education, playing soccer, programming computers and consulting about them.

I started my writing career late in life, after talking to a former student and getting harassed by her for not writing down all the stories I was fond of telling over the years. Thus motivated, I sat down and wrote a memoir about camping as little kids with my brother. I showed it to my friend and she passed it on to David Skinner, the editor of the online magazine "SouthernReader.com". It was published in the e-magazine and you can read "The Camping Parachute" at the link below.

Now that I think about it, it seems like everything I have done in my life has been preparing me to be a writer.

I've written a new book entitled "Time Enough" and it's available now at the link below. You can read a synopsis of "Time Enough" elsewhere on this website. The story was rattling around in my head for many years before I started writing. I even tried to talk my mom into writing it, but she kept pushing it back at me. She had her own books to work on and she knew I could do it.

Eventually, it got to the point that I couldn't stop thinking about it. I realized that it wouldn't get done unless I did it. So I sat down and kept plugging away until it was done. I have to tell you – it was an unmitigated blast – I should have started writing a long time ago. And one of the smartest things I ever did was to find a literary critique group that took the book and my writing skills to levels I didn't expect to be possible. The other really smart thing I learned was to write at least a little bit every day — If you don't, you end up spending your writing time trying to remember where you were when you were writing before.

When I'm not writing or consulting, I enjoy walking, playing electric bass in the band GooDWooD (www.goodwoodatl.com), "baby-wrassling" with my new granddaughter Jordan, stalking friends on Facebook, and meeting new people. When I'm not traveling with my DevOps consulting business, I'm at home in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
